I just had to use the song as a quote because as I was typing the title this song immediately popped into my head. I don't know about you, but I go through "phases" with my foods. I'll get really hooked on one thing that I love and I'll eat it until I don't want to eat it any more. Sometimes this is healthy, for example I went through an egg-white omelet stage where I made on for breakfast every morning. Other times it's not so healthy, for example the little love affair I had with cheeze-its for a while was not healthy. Try as I may I find myself constantly falling into patterns where I really love some foods. Most of the time it's a seasonal food thing, which helps because I can eat it until it is out of season and then still want some by the time another year comes around. I thought for this post I'd share with you some of my favorites right now.
I love zucchini right now! Along with being pretty cheap and a sturdy vegetable that lasts a while you really can do a lot with it. My favorite way to cook it is grilled either tossed with lemon juice and olive oil or on a skewer with chicken marinated in Teriyaki sauce.
If you know me you probably know I'm not a creamer person. I'll put 3 splendas in my coffee before I put any creamer in. However, recently my husband, being amazing as he is, took me on a weekend vacation for our anniversary. We picked up this creamer to have at the hotel for our morning coffee and it smelled SO good when he was using it. I decided to put a little in my coffee (about 1 tsp) and it was amazing! It has so many spices (cinnamon, cloves, etc...) it makes you feel like you're drinking Christmas. YUM!
I have to admit I am loving cold seedless watermelon right now! In Florida watermelon is currently in season which means I can get a really good sized watermelon for around $4 and it will last us at least a week or two. Perfect summer treat!
My new way of making oatmeal has been to cook 1/4 cup of oatmeal in a pot of boiling water with 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. Once done I add 1 banana and 1 TBSP brown sugar. DELICIOUS!!!!!
Boiled eggs have been my lifesaver recently. Although I'm completely full from my oatmeal (above) at 6 am, by 10 am I am hungry again. So I make sure to take a boiled egg to work with me. One of these packs some protein and leaves me satisfied until lunch!
Well, those are my favorites for now. My hope is that from these you will get a couple of inspirations that you can use to supplement your daily favorites/staples right now. Do you have any good ideas? Any favorites that are simple? If so leave comments below.
